Director, Stanford Learning, Design & Technology Program
At work, Karin’s home is in the design of experiences, spaces, and research that center on learning. At home, she works on learning new things all the time: how to build gas lines; how to hack IKEA cabinets; how to build time for reflection into a busy day.
So when the d.school started its K-12 lab, it was a natural fit to help design the iLab at Nueva School. Fast-forward a few years, and Karin had taken courses, workshops, and made friends at the d.school, and finished her PhD in Learning Sciences and Technology Design. As Director of the Learning, Design & Technology master’s program in the Stanford Graduate School of Education, Karin now teaches design classes related to learning and spaces.
