Community Lead, K12 LAB NETWORK
Devon’s path to the d.school has been a windy one, but she feels very lucky to have landed at such an inspiring place filled with innovative people.
Devon hails from the tiny town of Marathon, New York (not to be confused with the New York Marathon), and learned from an early age that education is vehicle for change, and that she just can’t hack New York winters. After fleeing west for college Devon began her career in education as an AmeriCorps VISTA for a year at a non-profit that matches low-income middle school students in workplace-based apprenticeships with mentors, and following her year of service joined the organization full time. It was during this experience that Devon was able to see the power of inspiring students through hands-on, experiential learning. Working directly with students, educators, parents, and mentors, she nurtured the twin talents of empathy and engagement.
Devon joined the d.school as the Program Coordinator for the Fellowship Program and the K12 Lab Network. Today, Devon feels lucky to work with the K12 Lab Network as the Community Lead, where every day she is surrounded by individuals striving to improve the world around them. She is also thoroughly enjoying being able to flex her creative muscles on a daily basis.
When Devon isn’t at the d.school, she’s plotting to cross off the next country on her list of places to visit, exploring the great city of San Francisco, and petting nearby dogs.
